George D. Penick Award

The George D. Penick Award is presented to a resident who displays excellence and commitment to the education and teaching of medical students, peers, and clinical colleagues.

Co-Chief Resident Grant Mangleburg, MD, PhD was this year's recipient. Many of his nomination notes identify his willingness to go above and beyond to educate medical students, residents, and clinical colleagues, including teaching histology basics to pathologists’ assistants on the autopsy service, and leading the weekly Interesting Case Conference.

Megan C. Danton Award

The Megan C. Danton Award is presented to a laboratory staff member for exemplifying excellence and dedication in teaching laboratory medicine.

This year’s recipient of the Megan C. Danton Award was Lucas Denton, PA. Nominators commented that Lucas has been “one of the most supportive and reliable members on the anatomic pathology side and gross room. He is always available to answer questions and offers help without hesitation. His consistent support makes a real difference for residents.” 

Faculty Teaching Award

The Faculty Teaching Award is given to a faculty member who has put exceptional effort toward the teaching and education of residents through their unconditional support, expertise, and enthusiasm.

Known for her dedication and excellence in teaching and kind, approachable demeanor, Alex Isaacson, MD was this year’s Faculty Teaching Award recipient. Residents comment that Dr. Isaacson finds ways for everyone to learn that is appropriate for their current level of knowledge that supports their continued growth and offers constructive feedback in a manner that is easy to absorb.
