On September 21, 2026, the department celebrated our Medical Laboratory Science Program students at the Kirkwood Regional Center for our annual scholarship ceremony. David and Pamela Buhr joined us via teleconference to give remarks and encouragement for the academic year ahead. This year’s awardees range from third to fourth years in the program.

This year, two scholarships were awarded to Dani Losen and Ethan Rosendahl from the David and Pamela Buhr Medical Laboratory Sciences Excellence Fund. This fund additionally provides programmatic support.

Alison Megrath, Cal Korrison, and Jennessa Johnson were recipients of the Marilyn Ohm-Smith Pathology Student Scholarship Fund. Marilyn Ohm-Smith was a 1974 graduate of our Master of Science in Pathology program.

The Imogene Fisher Scholarship Award is awarded in honor of Imogene Fisher on behalf of her family, who was a medical laboratory technologist in our bone marrow lab. Ethan Rosendahl, Dani Losen, and Alison Megrath were recipients of this year's award.

This year’s scholarship ceremony represents increased support from our donors, marking almost double in giving compared to 2025. Their generous support allows us to provide greater financial support to our growing student base, the needs of the MLS career field, and program expansion.
