Dr. Mangalam Germany professorship

We are pleased to share that Dr. Ashutosh Mangalam, Professor of Pathology, has been awarded an Honorary Professorship by the Old Herborn University Foundation in recognition of his contributions to microbiome research, particularly in the context of neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS).

Dr. Mangalam was invited as an expert speaker at the 2025 Old Herborn University Seminar, an international meeting that brings together leading researchers to explore the intersection of host physiology and microbial ecology. This year’s seminar focused on “Microbiota and Neurological Disorders”, where Dr. Mangalam presented recent advances from his lab on the role of the gut microbiome in MS pathogenesis and its therapeutic potential.

Old Herborn University was originally founded in 1584 and operated until 1817. In 1984, on the 400th anniversary of its founding, the Old Herborn University Foundation was established to promote research on host-microbiota interactions. Since 1987, the Foundation has hosted annual seminars that have evolved into a prestigious forum for global scientific exchange. Proceedings from these meetings are published in the Old Herborn University Monograph series.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Mangalam on this distinguished recognition.
