Congratulations to Matthew Krasowski, MD, PhD on receiving the Gerald T. Evans Award at the Academy for Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists (ACLPS) annual conference hosted by Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Jonathan Genzen, MD, PhD, MBA from University of Utah and ARUP Laboratories surprised Dr. Krasowski with the award during the awards banquet held at the City Museum.

The Gerald T. Evans Award is awarded to an ACLPS member for outstanding leadership and service to the society. Dr. Krasowski joins an esteemed group of previous Evans Award winners, including Drs. Edward Ashwood, Jack Ladenson, Steven Spitalnik, and Marisa Marques.

Dr. Krasowski has been a member of ACLPS for 20 years. As a trainee, he was a winner of the ACLPS Young Investigator Award (YIA). He has since served on multiple ACLPS committees, including the Program and Finance Committee and the Executive Council, regularly reviews abstracts for the YIA program, and was a co-local host for the 2020 ACLPS annual meeting held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Krasowski’s many contributions to the areas of clinical chemistry, toxicology, and transgender healthcare, along with his commitment to mentoring trainees and faculty, embody ACLPS’s mission of “dedication to the advancement of teaching and scholarship in laboratory medicine.”

ACLPS was founded in 1966 and has active affiliations with many of the academic and community centers that train residents and fellows in clinical pathology and laboratory medicine. The academy has a single meeting each year, which is devoted primarily to young investigators and their budding careers.
