IMMUNOLOGY OR CANCER RESEARCH

The Department of Pathology at The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is seeking scientist candidates for tenure-track faculty positions in immunology or cancer research. Candidates must have a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent) and a research program in either the field of immunology, cancer, or a combination of both (e.g. cancer immunotherapy). Candidates for Assistant Professor should have post-doctoral experience with a strong record of productivity. Candidates for Associate or Full Professor should have a record of ongoing extramural funding support and productivity. Candidates should also have excellent communication skills. Candidates with R01 level funding (or equivalent) are preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to run a strong and funded research program in some aspect of immunology or cancer biology, in addition to participating in clinical service and education (as appropriate). For appropriately board-certified M.D. or Ph.D. candidates, any area of clinical expertise in Pathology will be considered.
Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

PHYSICIAN SCIENTIST

The Department of Pathology at The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is seeking physician-scientist candidates for tenure-track faculty positions (Assistant/Associate or Full Professors). Successful candidates will be expected to develop and/or maintain a robust research program in addition to participating in clinical service and education.
The research strengths of the department include immunology and cancer biology. Any area of clinical expertise will be considered, although readily foreseeable niches include microbiology, subspecialty surgical pathology, hematopathology, among others.
The selected applicant will receive a primary appointment in the Department of Pathology, with opportunities for secondary appointments in other departments and programs. The University of Iowa is home to a range of outstanding research groups and centers that foster a collaborative and supportive environment for basic and clinical scientists.
Letters of application should include a CV, statement of career goals, research plans, and the names and addresses of three individuals who can provide letters of reference.

ACADEMIC SURGICAL PATHOLOGIST

The University of Iowa Department of Pathology seeks surgical pathologists with subspecialty expertise to join a collegial group of academic pathologists. We are an active surgical pathology division that is sub-specialty focused and covers a growing network of hospitals and clinics in eastern Iowa, with >60,000 cases annually. Candidates will be considered on either the non-tenure clinical track or tenure track at assistant, associate, or professor level. Sub-specialty training and/or experience in breast pathology, genitourinary pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, or thoracic pathology is desired; cytopathology training/experience would be an added benefit but not necessary. In our model, faculty would cover one or more surgical pathology subspecialties. Faculty will participate in training of pathology residents, fellows, and medical students and will have abundant opportunities to pursue clinical/translational research.
